My 2 cents

Integrity

Posted in Random Thoughts by urmilesh on May 30, 2006

I have a question. Who is better?
a) a politician who gives importance to money above everything else and so compromises his integrity for the sake of money.
b) a person in love who gives importance to his love above everything else and so copromises his integrity for the sake of love.

Let us not consider the fact that the politician might actually end up hurting people other than himself. What I am concerned about is their moral soundness and their self-respect.

This is something that has been really confusing me…do u have any answers???

My personal opinion is that they are both the same but I may not be in a position to see things objevtively…so u let me know.

I think your brains are all scrambled up and you have lost your sense of clarity in expression.

The two cases you talk about, Mr Dixit, can not be compared.

A politician, who compromises his integrity for sake of money, compromises trust of many people, who confided in him that he would do all that is best or maybe just ‘good’ that is required for them. But when such a man just sees his benefits and acts in greed – thereby breaking the trust of all who confided in him – he proves himself to be
    a) selfish
    b) dishonest
    c) and above all cheap.
Such politicians do loose in the longer run, because – anything that is bought is actually possessed. And anything that is possessed can be used or abused as and when the owner desires.

On the other hand, a man who compromises his integrity for the sake of his so called love clearly qualifies to be a fool. Becuase, he fails to see that he is being manipulated. Had his so called lover actually believed in the instituion of love, she would have never provoked him to the limit of compromising his integrity.

Now, the similarity between the two only lies in the fact that both of them actually loose in the long run.
The only point of difference however, lies in the fact that one loses benefiting financially from his stupidity and the other, loses it all.

Hence, the two of them can not be compared.

But as far as I can see, what you have mentioned here, seems to be a case of a dirty and selfish politician seeking refuge in the comfort of guilt and self pity, after he has been punished for his cheapness and selfishness…

I hope you get what I am trying to say here Mr Dixit…

I don’t know who this is yaar 🙂 that’s the beauty (or drawback) of anonymity.

Everyone is not as sweet as u to identify himself.
